Abstract

The article examines the problem of forming health-preserving competence of higher education students in the process of fitness classes. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to increase the level of physical activity of student youth, to develop a conscious attitude toward personal health, and to promote healthy lifestyle skills in modern conditions. It is noted that health-preserving competence is an important component of the general and professional training of higher education students and includes the formation of knowledge about health, motivation for physical activity, and practical skills for organizing a healthy lifestyle.

The article analyzes contemporary scientific studies devoted to the problem of health preservation among student youth and the use of physical education tools for the formation of relevant competencies. It has been established that one of the effective means of increasing the level of physical activity among higher education students is fitness, which is characterized by a variety of forms of physical activity, the possibility of individualizing physical loads, and a high level of motivational attractiveness for students.

The pedagogical possibilities of using fitness classes in the process of physical education of higher education students are substantiated. It is noted that the structure of such classes should include various directions and types of physical exercises, in particular elements of aerobic, strength, and functional training, bodyweight exercises, as well as exercises aimed at developing coordination abilities and flexibility. The importance of combining physical exercises with the formation of knowledge about health, the development of motivation for physical activity, and the formation of self-control skills regarding physical condition is emphasized.

It has been established that the systematic use of fitness classes in the process of physical education contributes to improving the level of physical fitness of higher education students, forming a positive attitude toward physical culture, and developing awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. It is concluded that the introduction of fitness into the system of physical education in higher education institutions creates favorable conditions for the formation of health-preserving competence among student youth.

Prospects for further research involve the development and experimental verification of pedagogical technologies aimed at forming health-preserving competence of higher education students in the process of fitness classes.
