Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive theoretical and methodological justification and develops a conceptual model of the system of scientific and methodological support for training athletes in wheelchair basketball. The relevance of the study is determined by the intensification of the training process for athletes with disabilities and the dynamic development of adaptive sports, particularly wheelchair basketball in Ukraine. These factors necessitate a revision of the organizational and methodological foundations of athlete preparation in accordance with contemporary requirements.

The proposed model has a hierarchical structure that ensures coherence among all its components: the strategic‑target component (defining goals and strategic directions of training); the content‑functional component (structure of the training process, means and methods of preparation; functional diagnostics and injury prevention; motivation and socialization; analytical technologies; technical support and safety); the organizational‑managerial component (planning, resource provision, coordination of specialists); and the control‑corrective component (monitoring system, evaluation of effectiveness, and adjustment of training).

The methodological basis of the conceptual model is grounded in systemic, activity‑based, and learner‑centered approaches. It takes into account the nosological specificity of athletes, integrates interdisciplinary knowledge, and combines competitive and socialization functions, which are characteristic features of adaptive sports.

A distinctive feature of the model is the integration of players’ classification characteristics, the biomechanical specificity of motor activity in a sports wheelchair, inclusive and socio‑psychological factors, as well as material and technical support as an essential element of the training process. The model identifies feedback mechanisms that ensure adaptability, variability, and dynamic correction of training in accordance with the individual characteristics of players and the demands of competitive activity.

The scientific novelty lies in the systematization of interdisciplinary components of scientific and methodological support and their integration into a unified conceptual structure adapted to the specifics of wheelchair basketball. The practical significance of the results is reflected in the possibility of using the model to optimize the management of athlete preparation in wheelchair basketball and to enhance the effectiveness and safety of the training process.
