Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies
The Publisher emphasizes that Large Language Models (LLMs) – hereinafter referred to as AI – such as ChatGPT, do not meet the criteria for authorship. Authorship implies responsibility for the content, which cannot be effectively assigned to AI systems. Any use of AI must be properly disclosed in the Methods section of the manuscript (or in an appropriate alternative section if a dedicated Methods section is not available).
The use of AI for language editing does not require disclosure. In this context, language editing refers to the improvement of human-generated text using AI tools to enhance academic style and readability, as well as to eliminate grammatical, spelling, or punctuation errors.
AI-assisted editing may include rewording and formatting adjustments, but must not involve generative editorial work or the autonomous creation of content. In all cases, responsibility for the final version of the text rests with the editor-in-chief, who must ensure that the content has been approved by the authors.
The Publisher highlights that all participants in the editorial and publishing process are obliged to adhere to the principles of ethical and responsible use of AI, as outlined in the Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Academic Activities at Khmelnytskyi National University.
